Brazil defeated Switzerland to advance to the 2022 World Cup playoffs


Thanks to the victory, Brazil advanced to the playoffs of the World Cup. The team takes first place in Group G (6 points). The second place after the second round is Switzerland (3 points), the third - Cameroon (1 point), the fourth - Serbia (1 point).


The final round of the group stage will be held on December 2, when Brazil will play Cameroon and Switzerland will play Serbia.


Earlier on Monday, Serbia and Cameroon played to a draw in the group stage match of the World Cup in Qatar. The meeting at the El Janoub stadium in El Wakr ended 3-3.


On the same day, it was reported that the Brazilian national team had an outbreak of viral infection. According to the Goal portal, goalkeeper Alyson Becker, midfielder Lucas Paqueta and striker Antoni Matheus dos Santos missed the team's World Cup training because of flu symptoms. They were sent to isolation and asked to train individually in a hotel.


On Nov. 24, Brazil striker Neymar was injured in a first-round World Cup match against Serbia. He collided on the field with Serbian defender Nikola Milenkovic. The player was diagnosed with a sprained right ankle.


Also, the Brazilian national team was temporarily without fullback Danilo due to a sprained left ankle, which he also received in a match against Serbia. He will not appear in the remaining group stage matches against Switzerland and Cameroon (December 2), Sport-Express recalls.


The Brazilian national team defeated Serbia 2-0 back then.


The World Cup 2022 Opening Ceremony was held at El-Bayt Stadium in the Qatari city of Al-Hawr on November 20. On the field there was a parade of flags of the participating countries, as well as a parade of mascots of past world championships.
